Making Appointments at the Surgery
The Practice operates a full appointment system to see our Doctors and Nurses. Patients requiring an appointment should ring the main surgery number on Tel: 01384 634 511. Or Book online.
Online appointment booking is available once you register for the service, please ask at reception to register and use the link on Electronic Prescriptions page.
Nurse online appointments are for Pill Checks and Depo Injections - as online appointments are only 10 minutes long.
Telephone Triage System
If you contact the surgery requesting an urgent on the day appointment, reception staff will request basic information. This is then logged and passed onto the nominated triage GP for the day. The GP will call you back, assess over the telephone which will result in advice being offered, a prescription being issued or an on the day emergency appointment being allocated for yourself.
If your condition is non urgent, you can expect to see a GP within two working days, though you may have to wait longer if you want to see a particular GP. If you don't not need an appointment within two working days, you also have the option to book up to 2 weeks in advance if this is more convenient for you.
The Black Country Hub Extended Hours Service
Haden Vale Medical Practice has collaborated with 10 other local GP surgeries to become the new Black Country Hub which is based at Portway Family Practice, Newbury Lane, Oldbury. B69 1HE.
This service will be offered to ALL patients registered at the 11 practices and NOT just our patients at Haden Vale Medical Practice.
Patients will be able to book an appointment within this service via telephone or at Haden Vale Medical Practice reception during surgery hours. The appointments are available for the Doctor, Practice Nurse or Health Care Assistant and the appointments will be available to pre-book and for on the day.
All 11 practices provide staff to help with the running of the extended hours service, so don’t be surprised if you don’t see Haden Vale Medical Practice members of staff when you visit the surgery.

The contact number for the extended hours service is 0121 612 3429, this number will only be available to take calls during the opening hours as stated above.
Please note staff will not deal with repeat prescriptions queries, test results, sick notes and private requests. You will need to contact the surgery during normal hours regarding them.

Manage your medication online If you find it hard to get to the practice to order your next repeat prescription, SystmOnline could make your life easier. Simply login to SystmOnline and view a list of the medication you have been prescribed. Select the prescription you need and click the ‘Request Medication’ button. All you have to do then is go and collect your prescription as normal whenever it is ready.
Need to change your details? With SystmOnline it’s easy. Just login and change your phone numbers or address. Security The SystmOnline service has been developed and tested using standards set out by a government body called NHS Connecting for Health. All personal information used by SystmOnline is secure and protected. It is only available to staff at your practice who have the appropriate security controls, i.e. those managing appointments, repeat prescribing or patient registration.
Important – to get started Please ask at reception for the appropriate form. Not everyone can access their GP surgery during its normal opening hours. SystmOnline helps by letting you manage your appointments and repeat medication over the internet. All you need to do is to speak to practice staff to get your username and password. Then you can start using the SystmOnline service!
