Antibiotic Service at Haden Vale Pharmacy

Haden Vale Pharmacy can now prescribe antibiotics for specific infections through a trained Pharmacist directly from our community pharmacy without having to go to the GP, if they meet inclusion criteria and avoid exclusion criteria. These infections include:

Urinary Tract Infections (Females 16-64 Years Old)
Infected Bites (Children 1 and over and all adults)
Infected Eczema (Children 1 and over and all adults)
Impetigo (Children 1 and over and all adults)
Bacterial Conjunctivitis (sticky eye infection) (Children 3 months-2years)
* they can treat this for adults on the minor ailments scheme also (please see separate leaflet)*

Patient Eligibilty

This service is available to patients residing in and registered with a Midlands region GP Practice PLUS, in order to support with ongoing winter pressures with immediate effect we may now also treat patients that are temporarily residents in the Midlands area

Two treatments can be provided in a 12 month period via the pharmacy

Bites, Eczema, Impetigo and Bacterial Conjunctivitis
You are able to walk in and may be seen right away or asked to come in the same day at a different time

UTI

You need to come into the pharmacy to get a dipstick and a urine sample bottle, you can go home or may use the surgery toilets next door  to do a mid stream urine test (pee for 1-2 seconds then collect sample in bottle)

You then dip in the dipstick into the sample bottle for a few seconds, ensuring at least the bottom four boxes are fully immersed, drain off any excess.  You then lay the strip flat horizontally on a flat surface and take a picture 60 seconds after you take it out of the sample bottle  This must then be sent to our NHS email:  hadenvale.pharmacyfwl41@nhs.net  We will analyse the dipstick result and reply via email advising best course of action  (Please note the pharmacy does not have the facility to do a urine sample as we have no public toilets and we do not take urine samples due to extra space and requirements needed for clinical waste)
